This week in snowy owls toftwood we are focusing on ‘All about me’
Today we have had the opportunity to take part in a self portrait activity where the children have been engaged in.
Each child looked at themselves in a mirror and was able to identify features on their face such as eyes, nose, mouth and hair.
Each child then attempted to draw a self portrait of themselves showing good fine motor skills and control when using the pencil to create the features they have seen in the mirror.

Make dreams come true day
Today in Barn Owls we have been celebrating a special day all about dreams! We celebrated this day by creating our very own dream catchers!

Each barn owl threaded the string through the holes on the paper plate, focusing intently and using amazing fine motor skills! They then selected some colourful ribbon to attach to their plates to create wonderful decorations! As we created our dream catchers we spoke about what they were for, explaining that they catch the good dreams to keep and they keep away the bad dreams at night! We also spoke about some dreams we’ve had –
“Having a swimming pool in my living room” -HC
“A sleepover with my nanny” -PAG
“I dreamed about Santa Claus” -TB
“I dreamed about octopuses” -CC
Our barn owls seemed to really enjoy discussing their dreams and spoke about it in their play throughout the day too! We hope you all use your dream catchers at home and have wonderful happy dreams tonight!

Our New Coffee Shop
In Snowy Owls Scarning we have created a coffee shop for the children to explore! The children love imaginative play and making up scenarios. The children have loved exploring the new resources and having a tea party with the teddy bears! The children have quickly picked up new words as they played alongside the practitioner like “coffee” and “marshmallow”. The children demonstrated lovely sharing and engagement as they played alongside one another. Great job Snowy Owls!
