Autumn and Halloween

Autumnal resourses

Little Owls Scarning have had an autumnal week here where we have been getting creative and exploring lots of natural resources.

Thank you to all families who have already returned their autumnal walk bags, we have used these items to discuss the world around us, as well as using the items to create our very own autumn crowns for the home learning challenge!

We have also enjoyed creating some autumn tree prints using different coloured paint and cotton buds to create the leaves.

Leaf rubbing

Barn Owls have been leaf rubbing at the creation station!

We all had some paper, crayons and leaves.

We used our fine motor skills to carefully rub over the leaves.

It was very exciting to see the leaves form with our crayons.

Pumpkins

Today in Barn Owls Yellow we have been focusing on our topic Autumn!

Today we have been painting and decorating our own pumpkins. We talked about the different shapes we used for eyes, noses and mouths!

Apple printing

Today in Snowy Owls Toftwood we have been doing some apple printing!

We had them cut into all different shapes of different leaves, and chose lots of colours to use to make our pictures!

The children loved adding the glitter to their artwork too, we talked about different colours of leaves we see in Autumn, and where they grow!

Well done Snowy Owls

Decorating our pumpkins

This week in Tawny Owls Toftwood we decorated some more pumpkins to display outside!

We wanted to decorate our pumpkins using natural resources so we looked at all the wonderful treasures brought in with autumn bags!

We used leaves and feathers to decorate our pumpkins and enjoyed exploring the pinecones and acorns too!

Autumn collages

Our Toftwood Snowy Owls have really enjoyed making some Autumnal Collages today!

They used the treasures they collected whilst on their autumnal walks with their families!

The children enjoyed spreading lots of glue onto their pictures before selecting which treasures they would like to go on their pictures!

They then finished their pictures off with some glitter!

Some of these pictures will be on display at the front of the nursery! Good work Snowy Owls.

Sensory tray

Tawny Owls Scarning our wonderful babies have been exploring our Autumn sensory tray.

Our babies enjoyed feeling the textures of a variety of different natural resources such as leaves and pinecones that our babies have collected on their Autumn walks at home.

Our babies also enjoyed exploring our pumpkin and conker sensory bags. They were fascinated by all the different natural resources and the sensory bag experience.

Learning about autumn

This week our Snowy Owls Scarning have had a lovely time learning all about Autumn!

They absolutely loved getting in their puddle suits and wellies and they went on an autumnal treasure hunt in the nature garden!

The children each had an autumn checklist and used their fantastic investigating skills to find the objects on their list!
They found lots of leaves, sticks, pine cones and even saw some berries in the tree!

“Look I found a big leaf” “it’s green” “that’s red!” “There is lots!”
