Brunch, Pizza Making & Parents Evening

Brunch

This morning we held our welcome brunch for our new Tawny families at our Scarning nursery. We had a lovely morning, getting to know all of our new families. We all explored our nursery setting, and all of our lovely activities we have set out everyday. We also had some yummy brunch and the children had some yummy snack. We then shared a story and song time together before saying goodbye.

It was wonderful to meet you all this morning and to get to know everyone

Pizza Making

Pizza making for National Pizza Day @ Barn Owls Scarning 🍕
“It’s pizza day” the children excitedly chanted with huge smiles on their faces as Laura explained that we would be making our own pizzas to take home!
We spoke together about our favourite pizza toppings, the different ingredients Laura had selected for us to choose from; exploring the colours, smells, shapes and of course the taste (many of the children having a little cheeky taste test as they added the toppings to their individual pizzas). We spoke about healthy and unhealthy food choices.
The children displayed excellent listening ears and concentration as they used child safe knives to chop their toppings into smaller pieces. One of the children said “my mummy said not to touch knives as I’m not allowed”. We discussed safety elements of when and how we use knives and how we were safe to use these specific knives as they are child friendly. The child then continued to observe that “look the knife looks like a cat”.
“ it’s for my tea”
“ I’m putting cheese just in the middle”
“I like pineapple”
“It will be yummy”
“I love olives”
“I like peppers they are nice and healthy”
“I don’t like tomatoes”
“My mummy will put it in the oven for me at home”
“ Popsy didn’t like pizza he likes cat food”
“Do you like peppers”
“Can you get the peppers for D please”
“I like mushrooms too”

Parents Evening

Dear Families
HAVE YOU BOOKED YOUR SLOT YET ??
Parents Consultations February 2023
This February we are offering parents the opportunity to have a detailed discussion with their key worker about their child’s development, experiences at nursery and anything else they wish to talk about.
Your child’s key worker/ buddy can share with you some key moments from your child’s nursery day during handovers at the end of a nursery sessions, however these parent’s consultations allow the opportunity to have a more in-depth discussion regarding development, interests, next steps, achievements, and anything else you wish to discuss.
Positive Parent Partnerships is an area that we pride ourselves in at Little Owls Day Nursery, and opportunities such as these and parent cafes allow for these partnerships to continue to strengthen. It is a lovely opportunity alike for new families to the setting, children recently transitioning nurseries and children who will be preparing to transition to school in July.
Parent consultations will be held in the evenings of Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st February. Time: 18:15-20:15
Parent consultation slots will be 10 minutes per family.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact your relevant nursery manager now….. We will be allocating times and dates following the return of the expression of interest form via email to your setting manager.
