Our trip to Eckling Grange!
Yesterday we took our monthly trip to Eckling Grange to visit the residents that live there!
This time our theme was International Nurse’s Day as well as Shells and the beach!
When we arrived, the Barn Owls were fascinated by the fish tank. We had a look at the different coloured fish – they were “shiny white” and “orange like our fish” that we have in nursery.
Then we had a little walk through some of the rooms until we got to the main lounge area where the residents sit and have a chat.
We had two tables of activities to choose from – painting or First Aid! On the painting table, we enjoyed choosing a shell from our big bag of shells and then painting them very nicely with our chosen colours. Some of us had a nice time mixing colours, guessing beforehand what colour will be made and then seeing if we are right! A few of the residents sat around the table too, helping to mix the colours and hold the shells for us – all whilst telling the Barn Owls some lovely stories about their life including a story about one lovely lady’s Dalmatian dog!
On our First Aid tvery the Barn Owls showed off their knowledge of helping people by aiding to our baby doll’s injuries with plasters, a cold compress and other First Air pieces. Both the residents and workers were very impressed at how much our Barn Owls knew about first aid, calling he emergency services and what we need to do and say when calling 999.
When we left, the Barn Owls all said thank you for having us (and thank you for the biscuit ).
What a great morning we had!
