Caterpillars, Promoting Independence & Tiny Tawny’s Walk

Caterpillars

This week in Snowy Owls Toftwood we have been watching our caterpillars develop into beautiful butterflies The children have been very excited and today we set them free! One child said “look at them go” another child said “bye butterflies”. Well done Snowy Owls!

Promoting Independence

At our Little Owls settings within Barn Owls we offer our children the opportunity to self serve their very own main meals to promote independence and to get them prepared in time for school.
This is a fantastic opportunity which offers all children a chance to choose what portion size they desire, a choice of toppings and if they would require extra when finishing their meals.
At Barn Owls Scarning this week the children have extended their learning by having open access to play dough and kitchen cutlery. This has allowed the children to practice their cutting skills which then further provides great skill during meal times with support and guidance from their familiar adults.

At Little Owls we pride ourselves in being a setting that helps prepare our pre-school children to feel confident and show great independence in time for school and providing the children with different learning opportunities and outcomes.

Tiny Tawny’s Walk

This morning, all of the children in Tiny Tawny’s went for a walk to the local park. The children all enjoyed going for a walk to see the local community. When we got to the park, we played on the swings, the slide and the little climbing frame.
Every week in Tawny Owls we go for a walk within our local community, the children have experiences outside of Nursery and learn all about the world around them
