Celebrating the Jubilee

This week our Snowy Owls Scarning are learning all about ’British Values’ and ‘Being British’ in preparation for the Royal Platinum Jubilee next week!
Today the children have experienced an engaging sensory tray, with a sensory image of the United Kingdom flag using salt, coloured glitters and lentils to create the red, blue and white markings.
Snowy Owls have been using various tea pots, pans, baskets and utensils to explore the sensory materials pouring, mixing and using their hands and fingers too in manoeuvring the salt and glitter as well as practicing their fine motor skills to pick up the lentils.
The children who engaged in the sensory tray demonstrated great personal, social and emotional skills when interacting with one another. Offering cues for each other to join in as well as demonstrating friendly behaviours when speaking to one another too!
We look forward to the rest of the week where we will carry out more exciting ang engaging activities to celebrate all things British and prepare for the Platinum Jubilee!

The Royal Family have come to Little Owls Toftwood
In preparation for the Jubilee celebrations we have set up a Royal Family small world area for the children .
In addition to this we have also changed a couple of other things in our garden area.
We have a lovely, calming area where children take take part in outdoor yoga and we have turned our wooden house into a reading garden with some lovely flowers in the window.
