Christmas Dinner day, Fire pit and Baking

Christmas Dinner day!

What a wonderful festive day we have had at Little Owls Scarning! Today was our Christmas dinner day where all the children and staff in the setting shared a festive lunch together.
The children spent the morning making their party hats, writing their letters to Santa ready for his special visit later in the day.

In the afternoon the children in barn owls and snowy owls enjoyed some Christmas baking where they made yummy mince pies to take home.

We were very lucky to have a special visit from Father Christmas . We sang him some of our favourite Christmas songs that we have been practising (he was very impressed with our fantastic singing) and handed him our letters with our Christmas wishes on. One child even brought Santa in a mince pie from home to give him a special treat.

To end a super festive day we were all very excited to see snow falling. A great way to end a magical fun filled day

Firepit

With the frost and wintery weather now fully upon us we are making the most of being able to access our fire pit area within our nature garden
Our barn owls have enjoyed group times around the fire pit where they have enjoyed singing songs, practicing their Christmas songs, reading stories and a firm favourite of toasting marshmallows!

Our barn owls children show great awareness of fire safety and what the rules are when we are around the fire.

Baking

This afternoon within our snowy owls and barn owls nurseries at Scarning, our children have been enjoying participating in a baking afternoon.

The children made Christmas shaped shortbread biscuits and mince pies. Turn taking was demonstrated beautifully throughout as they waited patiently for their turn. The children showed how independent they can be as they listened to the instructions from their familiar adults then carried out the process with very little adult support.

There was lots of discussion on baking, sweet treats and Christmas as they used the different cutters to make the shapes.
