Curiosity Box and a visit from a tortoise

Curiosity Box

This morning in Snowy Owls Toftwood a group of children have been investigating our bumble bee themed curiosity box!
To begin with the children all looked to see what they could see in the box! The children said they could see
‘Bees’
‘Leaves’
‘Marmalade’
The children then listened while a grown up spoke to them all about bumble bees and showed them lots of different pictures! We spoke about where bees live and how they help to make honey!

We finished with the children all holding a little felt bumble bee, one child said they had ‘very little wings’

A visit from a tortoise
This week at Little Owls Toftwood we have had another visit, from a lovely tortoise named Thomasina! The tortoise owners told us that this tortoise is around 70 years old, and likes to eat strawberries and lettuce!
“The shell feels bumpy”
“She feels soft!”
“She’s very slow”
”She likes the strawberry!”

We were also lucky enough to see some of the tortoises eggs that it laid!

Some Barn Owls recreated a tortoise shell with some cardboard and green paints which they used in their roleplay!
