We are going on a bear hunt at Little Owls

Bears!

We have had a busy week here at little owls Toftwood in our preschool room many children began their first days and this was so exciting, especially when they saw how practioners transformed their play spaces.
We looked at our individual children’s needs and developed areas supporting these.
We now have a new curiosity area/ investigation area. The curiosity approach encourages us to create the ‘thinkers & doers’ of the future. Part of that is making sure that, as a practitioner, we are empowering to create meaningful and mindful spaces and to put the child at the centre of every activity.

Exciting Interactive Display

Our overarching theme at Little Owls Scarning for September is Bears!

This week our Snowy Owls have been exploring toy bear sensory trays with added natural open ended resources such as pine cones, conkers, acorns and pine sticks!
This week all of the rooms have been working together to create an exciting interactive display which will soon be revealed… so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting news to come…

At Tawny Owls Toftwood this afternoon we have been reading some of our lovely bear books in our reading arch! We have also been talking about big and small like in Goldilocks and the three bears, the children were able to point out the big toys and the small toys!

Well done Tawny Owls

In Tawny Owls Scarning we have been continuing our theme of bears, this morning we have made some lovely bear footprint pictures using potatoes.

The children thoroughly enjoyed participating in this activity and also enjoyed exploring the paint with their hands as well as the potatoes.

Water

The children in Tawny Owls have had a lovely time this week splashing in the water outside.

They have been making bubbles in the water and exploring the sea creatures in the water tray.

We are going on a bear hunt!

Today Tawny Owls Scarning has explored a sensory, natural resources tough tray.

We used the resources to make different sounds to accompany the ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ story.

The children scraped shells, scrunched tinfoil, and banged pebbles to create sounds.

Carrying on with the bear theme

This week our topic has been bears we have been creating some small world areas that involve bears, made bear porridge and been on bear walks.

We have also been learning about ourselves we have painted some beautiful self portraits.

Next week

Next week in Snowy Owls Toftwood we will be exploring our newly created natural builders tray.

We have added a basket of various animals to give the children the opportunity to add to their play and choose what animals they would like to play with.

This activity will encourage imaginative play as well as sharing experiences with our friends!

We look forward to sharing this with our Snowy Owl children next week.

Treasure hunting

This week in Barn Owls, we have been focusing on the story ‘Sorry’ which is all about a bear and a rabbit who go on an adventure and find sparkly things, where they then discover their reflection!

The children in Barn Owls have enjoyed their own treasure hunt around the garden, where they found their own sparkly things!!

Great hunting Barn Owls.
