Granparents Story Cafe, Teddy Bears Picnic & Focus on shapes

Grandparents Story Cafe

Today we held our second Grandparents Story Cafe. We planned for the rain, but we luckily received some sunshine today. The children eagerly awaited their grandparents and jumped for joy as they watched them enter the garden.
The children and their grandparents enjoyed spending precious time together as they took part in various activities such as, painting a plant pot and planting a seed to put in it when it grows. They enjoyed decorating a cupcake, colouring pictures and making playdough faces.
There were lovely treats on offer for all to enjoy and then we ended the session with a lovely story all about Oliver enjoying gardening with his Grandad.
It was such a wonderful morning and we will look forward to our final cafe next week.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Yesterday Snowy Owls Toftwood had a fun filled day taking part in their very own teddy bears picnic! Snowy Owls enjoyed having their hot chocolate outside along with their snack as it warmed up their tummies. Snowy Owls held their cups carefully and independently whilst drinking their hot chocolate and demonstrated great control.
For tea, Snowy Owls sat down on their picnic blankets very excitedly and had their tea with their teddy bears. Throughout the day Snowy Owls made some yummy cup cakes in which they were then able to enjoy for pudding!
What a fantastic day Snowy Owls!

Focus on shapes

This week in Barn owls we are beginning to focus on shapes ,carrying on from our focus on numbers linking in with Barn owls mathematics development .
Today in Barn owls we have been focusing on a square within our environment .
Barn owls have had the opportunity to explore inside and out searching for objects which are a square !
From this we have been within our garden and car park looking for items !
ABY – ‘ the button !’
KH – ‘ its number one ! Its a square !’
JR- ‘bottom of the cone !’
EB- ‘the door floor is a square !’
I wonder if you can find any objects at home which are a square ?
