Halloween week and library bus

Halloween Week!

Today in Barn Owls Scarning we have started our week off with lots of spooky and thrilling activities ready for the upcoming event of Halloween!!
Halloween has been a current interest within our Barn Owls with lots of the children going on Halloween walks, events and pumpkin picking with families and friends. So this week we will be enrolling lots of activities focused around this event to enhance their interest which will also allow them to share their home from home experiences with their peers.
Today we have had several different areas with focused on different sensory aspects; a “witches brew” water tray with shimmering water, bugs, pumpkins and spooky sequins. a tuff tray filled with lentils, witches cauldrons, mini beasts and mini pumpkins to mix up potions and casting magic spells and finally spooky black playdough with googly eyes to make our very own spiders and monsters!
Through out the day Barn Owls have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the different activities with their peers and have enjoyed sharing the exciting activities they have taken a part in during the weekend and the half term holidays.
We would love to see what Halloween activities you have been doing, by sharing in the comments below!

A spooky morning walk!

This morning our barn owls yellow ventured out into the misty October air on a Halloween hunt to the park. The children walked super well down the path to the park talking all about Halloween and what we might find on our journey!
Once we got to the park, we started our hunt around the play area where the barn owls found lots of Halloween animals and objects including a pumpkin, a cauldron and even a ghost having a turn on the climbing frame.
Once we had found all of our items, some of the barn owls found some extra nature items that we could add to our witches potion back at nursery.
The children had lots of fun on this spooky and magical walk, and had a great opportunity to express their imagination ahead of halloween!

Library bus

This morning at Little Owls Scarning we had a visit from our local Library bus! 🚌
Barn Owls, Snowy Owls and Tawny Owls all took the chance to have a look at the array of books and selected a few favourites to take back and enjoy at nursery! 🌟
Before taking any books the children got them selves comfy and had a good look through the books enjoying the different pictures and story characters that they recognised before taking them to the gentleman to scan and pack away in our book bags ready for nursery! ❤️
Whats your favourite story books?
