How did you celebrate the royal wedding?

When you think back, you always remember where you were and what you were doing when there is a big royal event. Whether it be a wedding or funeral you can instantly recall the days finer details (when Kate and Wills got married I randomly brought a hamster.) Elijah recently has learnt about the Queen at nursery and taken quite a keen interest in the Royal Family.

Whether it be a wedding or funeral you can instantly recall the days finer details (when Kate and Wills got married I randomly brought a hamster.) Elijah recently has learnt about the Queen at nursery and taken quite a keen interest in the Royal Family.

There is no escaping the build up with shops, houses, magazines, papers, TV and even cakes getting in on the action which does lead to a lot of questions from Elijah.

There has also been an infamous drawing of the Queen in Elijah’s busy book!

I was so glad to hear that Little Owls chose to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

It could have been easy to not make the effort considering the wedding is on a non nursery day but it once again is making relevant events accessible to all those that attend Little Owls.

It is making it interactive and engaging for them and it let’s them feel as though they are just like the grown ups in marking the occasion.

There was afternoon tea, where the children made cakes, scones and sandwiches. Music and party games as well as the children making and wearing their own crowns and decorations!

The older children even made their own wedding cake and my favourite bit was that they even got married in a role play setting!

The whole nursery was decorated which put everyone in the mood to party before the big event itself.

I think most of the children will certainly remember the Little Owls celebration of the Royal Wedding for years to come!

We would love to hear how you celebrated the Royal Wedding over the weekend, did you have a party or watch it on TV?
