Jungle animals, Storytelling week & Chinese New Year

Jungle Animals

This week in snowy owls toftwood we are focusing on jungle animals linking in with our new jungle area we have created
Today some of the snowy owls children created their very own binoculars using various materials to design while showing good concentration skills and use of dominate hand. Once these were created we then used them to explore the animals in the builder tray. We spotted lots of jungle animals using our binoculars and the children was able to correctly identify and even sign the names of the animals along with the sounds they make
Later on we then went on to exploring with the play dough and created what was missing for example 5 stripes on the zebra, 2 teeth on the rhino. The children did very good counting and promoted turn taking too with their friends.

Storytelling Week

Tawny Owls Scarning have enjoyed lots of story themed activities recently in honour of Storytelling Week!
The children have enjoyed exploring a Hungry Caterpillar slot tray, where the children were able to practice their fine motor skills in slotting the food into the caterpillar’s mouth.
We also enjoyed some potato painting, making some Gruffalo footprints, and finishing the activity with an interactive read through of the story, using toys and props!
What is your little owl’s favourite story?

Chinese New Year!

This morning in Tawny Owls we have been trying some new food to celebrate Chinese New Year!
Our Toddlers have all had the chance to try some Chinese style noodles.
The children used their forks to taste test their noodles, some of the children really liked the noodles and signed more or said more. Some of the children weren’t so keen on the noodles and opted to try something different!
Well Done Tawny Owls
