Library Bus and Mini First Aid

Library Bus

This morning at toftwood we have been visited by the library bus! The children took time to look through all the different books, commenting on the different pictures they could see
‘look there’s a camper van’
‘this ones about bugs’
‘this one looks good’
‘I’ve got this one at home’
The children chose a selection of books which we can enjoy together at grouptime over the next few weeks!

Visit from mini first aid

This afternoon at Little Owls Scarning, we had a visit from mini first aid.
We listened to a story all about Freddie the Bear hurting himself.
We learnt how to put on plasters, put on a cold compress, call 999 and how to lay on our sides to help us feel better. We also learnt that it is very useful to know our addresses in an emergency and we practiced this today
Our children listened really well and said lots of comments through the session…
“Hello ambulance”
“I’m calling for help”
“Do you need a plaster”
Well done Barn Owls!!

More mini first aid

This afternoon at our toftwood nursery our barn owl children and our rising 3’s from snowy owls have had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a mini first aid course!
The children all began the session by showing the instructor how loudly they could shout ‘HELP’
The children then spent time practicing placing plasters on the instructor, learning how to apply a cold compress to a head bump and how to place a grown up on their side if we can’t wake them.
The children used fake phones to practice phoning 999 and we spoke about the importance of knowing our addresses!
To end the session the children all listened to a first aid story and received a special sticker and certificate!
Well done to our little first aiders!
