Library Bus, Dear Zoo Fun & Goodnight Moon

Library Bus

Today at Scarning we have enjoyed our monthly visit from the library bus! The children were very excited to head onto the bus, waiting patiently for the door to open before heading on.
All of the children had fun looking through the books on the shelves, spotting some of their familiar characters such as “the gruffalo!” and “look, its Peppa!”
As they found books they wanted to read, the children remembered from previous trips to choose a carpet spot to sit on, as they took a seat to flip through their chosen stories. We then took our books to the counter, for the librarian to scan, ready to take in and show our friends. The children were all very polite as they left, saying “thank you” as they disembarked!
Well done Little Owls

Dear Zoo Fun

“I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet…”

Today in Tawny Owls Scarning we have enjoyed exploring lots of activities based on our core story Dear Zoo! We spent some time colouring in some animal pictures, the children were confident in using their motor skills to make marks with the crayons, exclaiming all the animals they saw such as “tiger” and “giraffe”!
The children then engaged in a Dear Zoo themed small world tray, including the animals, boxes, and story books depicting the tale. Tawny Owls were engaged in this play, exploring the tray in their own ways, with some enjoying reading the books, and others having fun playing with the animals and balancing them on the boxes!
Lovely exploring Tawny Owls

Goodnight Moon

Today in snowy owls before tea the children sat together as a group and had a lovely time listening to “goodnight moon” . This story is a classic wonderful bedtime story that creates a calming and relaxing atmosphere throughout the story and is perfect after a wonderful busy day at nursery!
during this time the children focused on listening from start to finish and explored a range of descriptive words of the objects within the story. the children also had a lovely time symbolizing over and under with their arms and going shhhhh while holding their finger to their mouth to symbolise that they were going to sleep.
this was such a lovely time for the children to experience together with their friends while having a calm group time before enjoying their delicious tea!
well done snowy owls!
