Library Bus, The Weather & Visiting Horses

Library Bus

Here at Little Owls Toftwood we are very lucky to be visited by the library bus once a month! The children from all rooms get the chance to go onto the bus, look at all the different books and choose books for their rooms to enjoy over the rest of the month! This is a wonderful experience for all our children to enjoy!
Some of the books the children picked this month are:
‘The pirate cruncher’
‘The cow who fell to earth’
‘Spinderella’
They will be lovely to read at our group times!

Weather

This morning in Barn owls Scarning, to follow our topic of weather the children have been observing the clouds, they have used a window frame template with pictures of the different types of clouds around the edge and they decided what types of clouds they could see in the sky. The children enjoyed this activity taking turns to use the picture frames, and all had a go at choosing which clouds they could see, trying to name the different clouds after their familiar adult told them what one they had chosen, a few cloud types the children saw were “cumulus” “cumulonimbus” and “stratus” clouds. The children commented “the clouds are fluffy” “no that one’s not right” “the clouds are white” “I can see lots of different cloud shapes”.
Well done Barn Owls

Visiting Horses

Today in Snowy Owls we have been to visit the horses! Before we left nursery we wrapped up warm ensuring we had our coats and wellies on, all of the children helped put their arms into their coat and attempted to pull the zip up!
Once we were ready to leave we all held hands and walked together to the horses Along the way we saw ‘ice’, ‘puddles’ and ‘mud’ A child said ‘neighs are back’, another said ‘I give him the carrot’
One at a time, with support from an adult, each child got to feed the horse and stroke his face. We spoke about where horses sleep, what they eat and what their names are Whilst at the horses a child noticed that there was only one horse there! So together as a group we all called for Barclay and Dibs to come out and play but they didn’t come So Red was super lucky and got to eat all of the carrots to himself!
Once we had finished seeing Red we all waved goodbye and started to head back indoors. One of the children said ‘goodbye Red, see you soon’ We then washed our hands with lots of soap and the children told their familiar adults all about Red. Good job Snowy Owls
