Hoots After School and Holiday clubs are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated playworker.
Hoots After School and Holiday Club offer 2 Breakfast and After School clubs based in both Toftwood infants and Toftwood junior school. We also offer a full-time holiday club available in all school holidays. Both clubs are rated as Outstanding with Ofsted. Our infants clubs offers a minimum of 40 places for children up to the age of 7 whilst our Hoots Junior Club offers a minimum of 45 places for children from junior age to high school.
We also manage 2 nurseries, Little Owls Toftwood which offers 100 places for children aged from 6 weeks to 4 years and Little Owls Scarning which offers 54 places for children aged between 6 weeks to 4 years.
Due to a high increase in children joining both of our After-school clubs we are currently looking to recruit a new playworker to work within our Hoots infant club.
We are looking to recruit an exceptional individual who is dedicated, enthusiastic and have an ambitious vision for our children’s expectations and achievements. A recognised level 2 Early Years qualification is desirable however experience with school age children is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within an Ofsted Outstanding After School Club which offers fabulous resources and daily planned experiences for our school age children.
You will have key worker responsibilities so an excellent communicator with our parents, staff and children is also an essential requirement of this position.
The hours of work will be 3.00-5.30pm Monday to Friday (with additional hours also offered of 7.30am-9.00am if required).This post is term time only with additional hours available in the school holidays and also during the day at our Little Owls nurseries can be offered if required.
The rate of pay for the position is as follows
Playworker between £8.05-8.95 per hour
depending on age and experience.

We have a robust covid-19 policies and procedures in place. All staff are offered lateral flow testing twice per week and full ppe is provided.
We also are currently looking for an Apprentice to join our Scarning Little Owls team.
You will be helping to provide a rich, educational Early Years Curriculum for our children, learning from our qualified team how to have positive interactions with the children and implement the curriculum amongst different age groups.
Little Owls Day Nursery is open all year round, closing on Bank Holidays. Our opening hours are 07:30-18:00.
Your working hours would vary between these opening times to co-inside with adhering to room ratios, you will be required to work additional hours when necessary.
Duties of the role will include:
- To help create and develop, with other members of staff, a stimulating environment to meet the needs of the individual child, being aware of the requirements of different age groups.
- To plan stimulating experiences for all children within the room and cater for all their individual stages of development.
- To establish positive relationships with all members of the nursery team, children and their families.
- Keep up to date with current legislation relating to working with young children.
- Support your team members and maintain a happy team environment.
- Take an active part in Nursery projects and special events.
- To participate in regular fire drills and ensure that procedures are correctly carried out in the event of an evacuation.
- To be responsible for your own learning of The Early Years Foundation Stage
- To be prompt and responsible for your own timekeeping and follow our policies and procedures.
- To provide a responsible and good example to children, parents and staff
Little Owls Day Nursery – Scarning- Employer
Little Owls Day Nursery Scarning is a family run business owned by our Directors who have been running nurseries in the local area for 30 years. We also have a sister nursery based 5 minutes away in Toftwood. We are situated in a prime location in Dereham, just off the A47 surrounded by greenery, fields and horses. We are a 56 place setting; accommodating children between 6 weeks and 4.5 years. At Little Owls we provide high quality childcare and pre-school education which is available to all families in our local community.
In return we can provide you with the opportunity and support to study and gain a level 3 recognised early years qualification with our dedicated training provider Connect to care.
We require students who have received previous experience with preschool children and ideally have already gained a level 2 recognised early years qualification as this qualification will be a level 3.
