Fine Motor Skills

Getting ready for big school , Fine Motor Skills are essential for a child to develop their ability to hold a pencil as well as controlling.

At Barn Owls as our continuous provision of play dough, mark making and activities such as dough disco supports their development of fine motor skills moving on to holding a pencil .
Today in Barn Owls have had the opportunity to mark make \ write summer themed words ,such as ‘summer’,’ice cream ‘,sun’ as well as drawing our favourite ice cream with a chocolate flake .
This week is some of Barn Owls last week with us , as we get closer to our graduation,we will also be celebrating our achievements and being proud of our selves .
‘This year we have made so many memories,
each one to last forever to treasure ,
we hope you are all enjoying your big school transitions

GRADUATION 2023

Today we held our summer celebration at our Scarning setting to celebrate our school leavers of 2023. The typical bristish weather could not dampen the excitement and build up of this day which we have been planning for a couple of months.
The children and their families enjoyed engaging in an array of activities both indoors and outdoors ahead of all joining together for a picnic in our beautiful nature garden whilst watching the legendary Johnny Jaffacake Childrens Entertainer.
It has been a pleasure being a part of your child’s journey during their time at Little Owls. We wish them all the very best for their next adventure of big school!

Campervan visit

At both our Scarning and Toftwood settings today we were extremely lucky to have a campervan visit. This visit tied in nicely with our overarching theme of summer and holidays ☀️ 🌊 🚐
The children got the opportunity to explore within the campervan looking at its different features, sat in the drivers seat pretending to take their peers and familiar adults on an adventure and watching and help manoeuvre the electric winch. They were very excited to find a television in the campervan which was playing finding nemo- there were lots of giggles when we watched the part where all the gulls beaks went through the boat sails.
The children were extremely lucky to enjoy eating yummy s’mores which the lady kindly cooked for us within the campervan on the stove; we sat on the chairs and at the side of the campervan to enjoy these together.
Thank you to Stuart and Kimberley for kindly offering to bring the campervan to us today- the children throughly enjoyed this visit and we enjoyed hearing of your family adventures. We came back into nursery this afternoon and decorated our own campervans and drawing our family members within the van whilst discussing where we would go on our holidays.
“I love camper vans”
“I’ve been in a caravan but not in a camper van”
“I saw a campervan at the car show with my nanny”
“It’s all gooey”
“I love chocolate”
“How do you get up there”
“Let’s go to the beach”
“I’m going on holiday next week”
“I must put my seatbelt on”
“I can do it myself”
“That looks really heavy”
“ where’s the toilet”
