New Water Area

Look at our new water area in Barn Owls Scarning!
Our children have been very interested in water play during this hot weather
We have created a new space with lots of great resources and loose parts to enable our children to play imaginatively and use their mathematical skills with the water.
The children have really enjoyed exploring this today and they have been making a ”sea” with lots of creatures and doing some pouring and filling using the jugs.
Well done Barn Owls

Nature Garden

This morning Snowy Owls Scarning have been enjoying this delightfully sunny weather we have had by exploring their nature garden!
The children were very intrigued by our new allotment area where we are growing sweet peas, strawberries and pumpkins too! Snowy Owls demonstrated excellent physical skills in pouring the water from the watering cans to give the plants a drink, we spoke lots about growth and what helps plants to grow!
The children maintained focus for a long period of time also demonstrating great turn taking. This activity sparked lots of lovely conversations between the children and practitioners “I have strawberries at my home” “I eat strawberries at Mummy Daddy’s house” ”they are green” “I help mummy water my plants” “I love them!”

Teeth Brushing

This week in Snowy owls, the children have been learning about teeth brushing and hygiene following on from our wellbeing week last week.
The children have been taking part in small groups doing an activity all about teeth brushing and learning to use our dominate hand and showing good contraction skills and turn taking. While doing this activity we have spoken about the importance of keeping our teeth clean and how we often go to the dentist to have them checked and how we need to eat and drink healthy.
As teeth brushing is so important, this week we will encouraging the children to brush their teeth after lunchtime. If you would like your child to take part in this daily session please provide your child a tooth brush and tooth paste in a wash bag or plastic bag and let a member of staff know.
