Open evening, Ambulance visit & Fathers Day cafe

Open Evening

This evening our Scarning setting held their open evening for families of children transitioning to the next nursery in September.
These evenings give the families an opportunity to come and view the next provision, meet their new key worker and ask any questions regarding the transition.
Thank you to all those families that joined us this evening; we hope you found the evening insightful.
If you were unable to join us this evening your child’s welcome/transition pack will be distributed to you via your child’s current nursery.

Ambulance visit

What a wonderful experience our children at Little Owls Day Nursery got to experience this morning.
We are very lucky to have parents at the setting who have such an array of job roles/professions and when we were asked by a family would we like a visit from an ambulance and a critical care car from the air ambulance service we certainly said yes please!!
The children have an interest in vehicles and emergency services and such opportunities to interact and further their knowledge with this first hand is invaluable. This extends on our childrens learning from our Mini First Aid session that our barn owls were lucky enough to have a few weeks ago from Mini First Aid Norfolk.
Our children got the opportunity to go out in small groups along with their familiar adults and investigate the different parts of the ambulance and car; we enjoyed setting off the sirens, seeing the lights flash, looking at different equipment, kit, trying on uniform and asking the lovely paramedics lots of questions.
“ red and blue lights”
“Look a yellow car”
“There’s a clock up there”
“Oh wow”
“What’s that noise”
“I have to go to the doctors for my puff puff”
“I’m not really poorly”
“What’s this for”
“I liked sitting in the front”
“Look I’m driving”
“999”
“Where’s the 999 button”
“Nee naw”
“I didn’t like that it’s noisy”
Thank you so much for taking the time from your busy work schedules to organise this for us today- it meant so much to all of our children!

Fathers Day Cafe

Today we held our Father’s Day Cafe offering male role models the opportunity to come into nursery and spend some time with their child/grandchild enjoying a wide range of activities within the nursery environment.
Our cafe today was themed around one of our favourite stories: The Gruffalo.
The children enjoyed exploring and engaging within a range of activities such as making Gruffalo crispie cakes, creating Gruffalo masks, Gruffalo playdough with lots of materials to create the Gruffalo and all his features. Alongside this there was the opportunity to explore the beautiful areas of our grass garden; mud kitchen, den building, base camp, allotment and water play.
To end the cafe we all joined together to have a yummy treat: owl ice cream for the children and bacon dolls for the daddy’s where we listened to the Gruffalo story.
Thank you to everyone for joining us today and we hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves enjoying the activities on offer in the sun shine with your children!
We would like to take the opportunity to wish all the daddy’s, step daddy’s, uncles and grandads to our little people a lovely Fathers Day for Sunday!
