Park Trip, planning meeting & sink or float?

Park Trip

This afternoon a group of our Barn Owls from toftwood have been on a little outing to the local park!

This gave our barn owls the perfect chance to practice our road safetly! ‘we have to look both ways’ ‘listen for cars’

Once we were safely across we walked up to the park where we saw dogs, buses and vans on our way!

Once at the park the children had a great time exploring the different equipment including a slide and swings before sitting together for a picnic snack!

We finished the trip with a go on the obstacle course ‘I’m balancing’ ‘I can do it myself’ th barn owls shouted! And a quick game of football!

Planning Meeting

This evening at Toftwood and Scarning, we have held our medium term planning meeting. we do this each term to plan topics for the upcoming term and look at all of the exciting activities we plan to do with our little ones. The team look at the children’s interest and what is happening in the world around them and bring these together to plan meaningful topics each week. Parents receive a weekly ‘what’s on’ to see what wonderful things their children will be doing each week!

Sink or float….?

This afternoon in Barn owls toftwood we have been learning about how different items may sink or float in water!

A nursery nurse asked the children what might happen to different items when placed in water.

We first held a group discussion of our thoughts to what may happen to each item ,

‘I think the apple will sink’

‘The log is heavy’

‘Feathers float’

The nursery nurse then placed each item into the water to see if we were right! The barn owls were very surprised when the apple floated to the top!

We also showed understanding that the paper first floated and then sinked to the bottom as the paper was soaking up the water , ‘ Its going dark!it’s soaking up the water !’
