Today in Tiny Tawny Owls, we have been exploring our ‘Tidy up the ocean’ tuff tray!
This week we have been focusing on recycling, and using and repurposing our resources in new ways!
Tying in with this theme, we are mindful of all the rubbish that ends up in our seas! With this activity, we mimicked the rubbish in the oceans and we were able to practice our pincer grasp and use plastic cutlery to pick up and scoop the rubbish out ourselves!
Lots of the children were fascinated by the sensory aspect of the tray and loved exploring the new and different textures. We enjoyed making sounds with our resources, such as crunching the baking paper between our hands to make a great noise! We encouraged language by using words such as “crunch”, “fish” and “shiny”!
Finally, our smallest babies love our soft animals, so we encorporated some of our favourite songs such as ‘Tiny Turtle’ and ‘1,2,3,4,5’! The children loved clapping along and were very enthusiastic!
