Barn Owls

Between the ages of approximately 3 and 4 years old children progress into our Barn Owl Nurseries.

Within our purpose built Barn Owl Nurseries our children are offered a curriculum which is designed to provide them with a structured platform to build upon when commencing school. Our aim is to work very closely with all of the local Infant Schools and, during the summer term, we invite all of the relevant Reception Class Teachers into our Nursery in order that they can observe our children within their own familiar surroundings.

Our Barn owl nurseries are divided into two separate individual nurseries.

Main Barn Owl Nurseries

We offer two individual Barn Owl classrooms which offers our children craft areas with sand and water table top activities and extensive role play imaginative play area. Our sand and water areas are both situated adjacent to the sinks and offers dry and wet sand alongside various resources. Our extensive imaginative areas offers versatile furniture that can be adapted to become anything the children’s imagination will let it be. The role play areas are arranged in accessible ways to encourage our children to explore and handle resources whilst put in believable places. Our toilets and sink basins are accessed directly from both rooms to encourage independent skills.

School readiness area

Our school readiness area is situated within one of our Barn owl nurseries and offers the children a completely new environment.

We are delighted to offer the children the opportunity to use a state of the art multi-touch display screen. The screen offers amazing interactivity with optical touch technology with 6 simultaneous touch points. This piece of equipment is used to support children’s development throughout every area of the Early Years Foundation Stage but in particular:

Knowledge and understanding of the World, people and communities, phonics, numbers, shapes, spaces and measure, handwriting, letter formation and mark making as well as understanding of technology, it purposes and simple programming.

Our children are also offered the benefit of accessing child friendly educational tablets within both Barn owl nurseries.We also offer our Barn Owl parents and children separate library areas where parents can have the opportunity to view and borrow from a selection of age appropriate books and share these together at home.
