Tooth Brushing, Tadpoles and The Outdoors

Tooth Brushing

Today our Toftwood Barn Owls have started their supervised tooth brushing session
Each day those who wish to take part will have the opportunity to join together after lunch and follow the process for effective tooth brushing.

Today our Barn owls listened to a grown up as she modelled the correct tooth brushing action with a catchy song for two minutes. Our Barn Owls children displayed confidence in their tooth brushing, good job Barn Owls.

As we carry out this activity daily, it will support our children to develop awareness, confidence and skills in brushing their teeth, which in turn will work towards promoting healthy oral hygiene.

If you would like your child to join in with this daily session, please provide your child with a tooth brush and tooth paste in a wash bag or plastic bag and let a member of staff know on arrival .

Tadpoles

Today something very exciting has happened at little owls toftwood!! Our tadpoles have arrived!!
During group time the children have been learning all about the Life cycle of frogs, they have learnt that frogs spawn becomes tadpoles and tadpoles become ‘frogs’ Barn Owls then all came together to watch as we transfer the tadpoles into our very own tank!! Where we can watch them grow over the next few weeks before they return to their pond!

On observation some of the conversations heard were:
‘it’s green’
‘There’s 3’
‘they look like eyes’
We will keep you updated on their journey on our famly account

The Outdoors

“The outdoors offers limitless potential to young children. It becomes a place they can go to relax their mind, to be inspired and to deep dive into the world of imagination. It’s a place where they can design, create and explore. The possibilities are endless.” Angela Hanscom

We are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful greenery and fields at our Scarning setting; we have horses situated on the field next to the nursery where our little owls enjoy regular visits to see the horses to give them some fuss and some healthy treats. We have baby lambs on the field opposite the nursery whom we can hear bleating when we enjoy exploring in our garden environments.

Did you know that behind our nursery there is a stunning lake?

Our little owls (big and small) enjoy adventures with their familiar adults to visit the lake where we have endless opportunities to explore the beautiful world around us from seeing the wildlife (we especially love to watch the ducks swim on the lake), going on a scavenger hunt, exploring nature, sitting with our peers and enjoying a story and song time along with a snack. The possibilities and opportunities differ from season to season which makes it even more special!
