Treasure Hunt

Autumn Treasure Hunt 🍂
This afternoon in Barn Owls we have been on an autumn treasure hunt to see what autumnal goodies we could find to add to our Autumn builders tray!

To begin with we firstly spoke about road safety with the children before heading out for a walk! We spoke about how we should always look both ways before crossing the road, listen to see if we can hear any noises and always have our walking feet on!…

Colour Monster

This week in Barn Owls we our focusing on ourselves and our feelings! So today we have enjoyed our morning group time outside around our fire pit!
As this was the first time having story time around our fire pit for many of our Barn Owls we started the session by going over our fire pit rules and talking about the potential dangers!
‘fire is hot like a volcano’ MR said.
The children were then able to listen to the colour monster story whilst watching the fire crackle and glow! ‘I feel calm looking at the fire’ HK said.
The story talks about all the different feelings we may feel and gives them all a colour so the children can easily describe how they feel in colour!
Yellow – Happiness, Blue – Sadness, Red – Anger, Black – Scared, Green – Calm and Pink – love
We then asked the children how they were feeling today:
‘I feel happy’ DW said
‘I love my Dad’ JR said
‘Sometimes I get scared when I’m in my dark bedroom’ HB said
W will be continuing our work on feelings with lots of different activities throughout the week!
Well done Barn Owls!

Making Dreamcatchers

In Tawny Owls we have been making dream catchers using a selection of different gluing and sticking materials. The children used colourful cutouts of paper, stars, feathers and glitter to decorate.
The toddlers used the glue sticks to spread glue all around the plate, some of the children needed a little help spreading the glue, they then selected some colourful bits of card and paper and began to stick it all over their plates. Some of the children added some red and gold glitter and various colours of feathers! Once the children had decorated their plate they selected a colour ribbon to be tied on for the dream catcher to hang! Some of the children liked independently tipping the glitter and spreading it all over their dream catchers to finish them off!
Well done Tawny Owls, lovely crafting!
