Vegetable Patch, Firestation Visit & Sensory area

Little Owls Scarning vegetable patch

Today Barn Owls Scarning have been very busy maintaining the nursery vegetable patch. Firstly they were very excited to discover that we had lots of bright red strawberries ready to pick. In turn they all one by one picked off their chosen strawberry from the stalk and handed it onto a plate.

Barn Owls then noticed our cucumbers had grown to their full potential so were very excited to hear that we could pick them and have a tasting session. Once all our fresh vegetables were picked a familiar adult took them inside for a wash and then prepared some utensils for Barn Owls to chop up the vegetables themselves for snack.

Once the vegetables and utensils were prepared Barn Owls all sat round the table in the grass garden and in turn cut up their own strawberries and slices of cucumber. Each Barn Owl really enjoyed this task, using the utensils safely and independently.

Barn Owls loved taking part in their taste testing and really enjoyed eating their freshly grown cucumber and strawberries grown from their own nursery garden. Well done Barn Owls.
We would love to see your vegetable patches in the comments below?

Fire station visit

Today we have had a very exciting visit to Dereham fire station!
Our little Owls took a short journey on the bus through town to get the to station where we were lucky enough to have a look around all of the fire engines and much more.
We learnt lots about what firemen do,

‘They help animals’
‘Put out fires’
And ‘rescue people!’
During our time there, our children were able to see a brand new fire engine, the rescue boat and the special fire trucks which can go all over England!
They even had the opportunity to use the big yellow hose!
We then said a big thank you to the crew for showing us around and went to get back onto the bus to tell our friends at nursery all about it.

Today in Scarning Tawny Owls we have been super busy enhancing our sensory area and our cosy reading area! We hope the babies enjoy exploring the new updated areas
