Visiting Horses
Snowy Owls Scarning visiting the horses
Today, after experiencing some freezing temperature’s during the week, Snowy Owls took the opportunity to wrap up warm and visit the horses giving them a special treat of carrots
Before leaving the setting as a group Snowy Owls had a big decision to make whether to feed the horses Juicy apples or Crunchy carrots with the overall choice of crunchy carrots we filled up a big bowl ready to take out! (FC) “Carrots are the horses favourite”
As we arrived the horses were already feeding on a big bale of hay across the other side of the field so we all had to use our loud voices to call all three horses over. (AW) “There coming” (PK) “quick” and shortly after Dibs, Barclay and Red came trotting over.
During our time spent with the horses all of the children loved having a choice and selecting their favourite horse to feed, both independently and/or with support from their familiar adults. All of the children followed instruction clearly holding their hands flat so the horses could safely feed from their hands, they also showed great care when approaching the horses stroking them gently and calmly.
Lovely conversations were also held as the children spoke fondly of the horses using great communication and language skills. (FC) ”Horses go clip clop”,(PK) “I like feeding the horsey carrots”, (EK) “I like the horses too”.
The horses thoroughly enjoyed their visit from Snowy Owls having lots of fuss and are now full on lots of crunchy carrots!
Well done Snowy Owls
