We are celebrating world book day

So far this week in Snowy Owls Scarning we have been very busy exploring different stories to celebrate world book week! We started the week off focusing on “Dear zoo” and “The very Hungry Caterpillar”. Snowy Owls had a fun filled sensory tray to explore based around dear zoo which involved cereal, natural resources and zoo animals! They then had a very special snack of fruit kebabs based around the fruit that the hungry caterpillar eats! We finished the day off by making our own caterpillars in the shape of the letter “C” for our favourite story displays.

Today we have focused on “We’re going on a bear hunt” and “rainbow fish”, we again have a busy tray filled with the different scenes of the bear hunt so Snowy Owls can go on their own bear hunts!
We have also created our own rainbow fish by bubble painting using different colours to make a colourful rainbow fish to add on our display! We will be doing lots of different stories throughout the rest of the week!

We also had the mobile library visiting our nursery so our little owls will have the opportunity to choose some lovely books to enjoy.
Literacy and a love of books is of paramount importance to us at our nurseries.

Mobile Library At Little Owls

The children loved choosing their own books to be stamped out and shared with their friends at nursery. Developing that love for reading at Little Owls.

At little Owls Toftwood we had the best day celebrating world book day, our children enjoyed listening to the array of stories including builders trays and activities based around their favourite stories. 🐛 the very hungry caterpillar was a very popular one. We also had some wonderful costumes from both children and staff.

Tawny Owl Scarning have been celebrating World Book Day! Our babies have enjoyed exploring different story related sensory trays such as a Gruffalo sensory tuff suitcase with shredded paper and pictures, a Cuddly Dudley tray with visual pictures and materials and a ‘That’s not my…’ touchy-feely book sensory tray with a variety of different books and materials for the children to explore, the sparkly material was their favourite!
Our babies also enjoyed a Sneezy Bear tasting activity where our babies got to taste foods such as smoked salmon honey toast cherries and a blueberry dessert which was their favourite!
The children also been painting pebble snails from snail and the whale and they have also loved listening to our story sacks of Dear zoo and Sneezy Bear On Thursday as it was World Book Day the children and staff took the opportunity to dress up as their favourite character, we had everything from princesses to dalmations and very hungry caterpillars!
We would also like to thank all the parents who brought in their child’s favourite story for us to enjoy during our group times; this was a lovely addition to yet another fantastic week in Tawny Owls!
