Our theme this week is construction

Outdoor climbing frame

Over the weekend Snowy Owls Toftwood have had the exciting arrival of their new outdoor climbing frame!

The children are already very excited and were eager to get straight outside to explore.

They have been very confident and are having loads of fun going up the ladder and down the slide with their friends.

This climbing space can be made into lots of exciting imaginative areas.

Picking carrots

The children in Barn Owls Toftwood had great fun picking our carrots that we have been growing today.

We peeled them and chopped them up for snack.

They were super yummy.

Our new construction area

Today in Tawny Owls Toftwood we have been exploring our new construction area.

We have spent the day digging and filling buckets with bark, building with our natural blocks and transporting mud and bark with our diggers and trucks!

Well done Tawny Owls

Feeding the horses

Our Snowy Owls Scarning children fed the horses in the field next to nursery!

The children fed them some yummy pears and apples as a treat!

They were also very excited to see a tractor in the field too!  “There’s a tractor like that in my field!” “It’s orange!” “That’s blue!”

Well done Snowy Owls Scarning

Exploring their environment

Today our barn Owls Scarning have enjoyed exploring the outdoor environment.

They started off mark making on the chalk board, which then turned into creating a chalk road to drive their cars and construction vehicles along on the soft surface, to then laying on the floor and drawing around their bodies and shadows!

Our barn Owls are full of imagination and creativity- it is lovely to observe them creating their own experiences and ideas! All from each having a piece of chalk!

Well done barn Owls
“Can I draw round you”
“Stay still”
“My turn now”
“Let’s all lay in a line”
“I’m next to X, he’s my friend”
“Can you lay like this”

Yummy food

Today our Tawny Owls Scarning babies have had a fantastic time tucking into some delicious food from one of their favourite books Sneezy Bear!

Each baby has their very own bowl with an array of food just like the fellow Sneezy bear.

They tried a range of textures and tastes from sweet to sour.

Well done little Tawny Owls.

It looks like you all enjoyed trying some yummy food.

Toftwood owls

Next week in Snowy Owls Toftwood we will be exploring our newly created natural builders tray.

This week Barn Owls Toftwood have been busy getting creative and done some tissue paper art. The children used glue and paint brushes to make their beautiful pictures.

In Tawny Owls Toftwood our babies love exploring in the role play kitchen. They have been busy mixing and creating lots of yummy food.

This really helps to encourage engaging in pretend play and to play alongside their friends!

Well done Tawny, Barn and Snowy Owls

Dancing in the rain

Today at Little Owls Scarning we have not let this weather dampen our spirts.

The children showed of their awesome jumping skills splashing in the muddy puddles.

Some of the children used their imagination to act out some fictional scenes from one of their favourite books, We Are Going On A Bear Hunt. The big smiles says it all!

“I am splashing like pepper pig”
“Rain rain go away come again another day “.
“Spishy splashy we are going on a bear hunt”.
“Tap tap tap”
“Let’s give the animals wash”
“Let’s water the flowers “

Life’s not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain!
