Woodwork

Today in our preschool woodwork session, the children had an exciting opportunity to explore real tools—specifically, hammers! With close adult supervision and guidance, the children practiced using small, lightweight hammers to tap nails into softwood blocks at our designated woodwork station.

The session began with a group safety talk. We discussed how to carry hammers safely, how to hold them with control, and how to keep fingers clear of the working area. Children were also introduced to the idea of wearing safety goggles!

The children then had a turn using a hammer to drive nails into blocks of wood. For many, it was their first experience with real tools! The children were incredibly focused, showing concentration and care. They practiced gripping the hammer firmly. There was lots of trial and error, problem-solving, and some proud smiles when a nail went all the way in!
